Lyon Saint-Exupéry (69) 22 août 2019. La gare SNCF.
La statue au premier plan met en scène Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Elle entend symboliser la transmission du savoir et du courage aux jeunes générations. Le bras gauche tendu vers le ciel, le regard rivé vers les nuages, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, prêt à s’envoler, trône désormais sur le parvis de la gare TGV de l’aéroport de Lyon. Avec à ses pieds, un lion qu’il caresse affectueusement de sa main droite. L’immense statue de bronze haute de 3,20 mètres a été conçue par le sculpteur Pascal Jacquet.

Merci Valerianne. Ma femme et moi sommes confinés chez notre fille. Nous tenons nos distances et faisons très attention. C'est moi qui vais leur chercher le pain et les médicaments avec l'autorisation signée... Nous sommes partis avant le confinement.. Tout se passe bien.

I read Le Petit Prince whilst in lockdown last week; the first time in many years after having had it read to us by our French teacher when I was 15. It left a whole classroom of rugby-playing, playground-fighting boys in tears, and when I read it again last week I wept anew. I'll be sure to find this statue should I ever make it to Lyon once more. Thank you so much for provoking this memory with your photograph.
