According to the estate exhumed here, already in the 16th century. I a. C. there must have been a population center in São Miguel de Odrinhas that certainly gave rise to the villa, whose first period of apogee apparently occurred around the 1st century and the beginning of the 2nd. Also noteworthy is the collection of a large Roman capital, of Syrian influence, of late chronology, integrated into the apparatus of an auxiliary wall supporting the church's belfry, built independently of the church.

Husband is not happy... After elephants and rhinos, the hippopotamus is the next largest land mammal. It is also the largest extant land artiodactyl. Despite their physical resemblance to pigs and other terrestrial even-toed ungulates, the closest living relatives of the hippopotamids are cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises, etc.), from which they diverged about 55 million years ago. Hippos are recognisable for their barrel-shaped torsos, wide-opening mouths with large canine tusks, nearly hairless bodies, pillar-like legs, and large size: adults average 1,500 kg (3,300 lb) for bulls (males) and 1,300 kg (2,900 lb) for cows (females). Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances. Kodachrome scanned (2011) dia of 1965.

Cabo Espichel

Nossa Senhora do Cabo. The Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Cabo Espichel, also known as Nossa Senhora da Pedra Mua, is one of the most impressive places in this region due to its location and its remarkable natural architectural complex. The cult dates back to 1410, the year in which the venerated image of Nossa Senhora do Cabo was discovered at the end of Cabo Espichel, by two old men from Caparica and Alcabideche, who in coincident dreams had been warned by Heaven. Until the beginning of the 18th century, the square around the primitive temple was surrounded by houses for the pilgrims who came there on pilgrimage to venerate her image.

HFF - Óbidos

The eastern section of the wall around Óbidos constitutes the nucleus of the wider wall that surrounds the castle and the town. Access is via four doors and two shutters, the most notable being the Porta da Vila or Porta de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, surmounted by an inscription, placed there by King D.João IV (1640-1656), which reads: The Virgin Our Lady was conceived without original sin. Inside there is a chapel with a balcony, covered in tiles from the 18th century.
