Foreigners (in other countries, graveyards are separate from and sited away from churches) find it incredible that at our village weddings, the happy couple, when they emerge from church amid confetti and jollity, are surrounded by graves.

I think the English way is better (if it weren't for the problem of the churchyards being full).
In the days when families resided in one area for generations, it seems kinder to keep the departed amidst their relatives.
