The son of the (then) landlord of this pub, I read somewhere, served in the army during the First World War.

I wish I'd taken a photo of the old Watermans Arms pub sign. Now renamed The Punter, the current establishment has a very boring grey sign and doesn't even look like a pub anymore.

No, I hadn't, but thanks very much for making me aware of it. I've just used the method to replace my King's Sutton picture, and will replace others as well. It's a bit cumbersome, but at least, at last, we have a means to do it.
