danger signs

I know they aren't intended to be pretty, but the old-style white-on-red danger signs were not unattractive, and fitted in quite well with the scenery whilst still being noticeable. However, the new yellow-triangle on white-square signs are an eyesore and not so easy to read. Our waterways are becoming more and more cluttered with ugly signage and will soon look like motorways.

Also, I don't like this EU thing of having stupid pictures on the signs, because it takes longer to work out what the pictures mean than it does to read the words (unless you don't know English, of course). The simple red DANGER sign would alert me instantly, whilst I probably wouldn't 'get' the other one until it was too late.
