Fall Tree
Each year at Autumn when the leaves start turning, there's a certain tree at the edge of my town that I have been photographing since the 1970s. These set will feature the different years and stages of this tree.

For The Sunday Challenge group, who's theme this week was "ground level" images.
This particular tree stands at the edge of my town and each Autumn I photograph it when the leaves start turning. I've been photographing it since the 1970's. The sidewalk at the lower edge of the image ends right here in front of the lens and then drops off four or five feet to the little lane that connects to the main road that runs through town. By standing on the lane, I'm able to position myself at eye-level with the edge of the sidewalk. This is what the tree looked like for October 17th, 2012.

Taken on October 21st, 2012. These trees are the first ones coming into my town. If you look real close at the far left, you can just see the tree I photograph every Fall when the leaves turn. That tree looked best on October 17th - these particular trees took a little longer to reach their prime.

My annual Fall tree picture was a little sparse this year because the leaves fell fast. Taken on November 1st, 2013, with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77V DSLR.

I shot my annual Fall Tree picture today. At the east side of Norris City, coming into town from Carmi and right across the street from the water tower is a tree I've been photographing each Autumn when the leaves turn. I've been doing it since the 1970's with the same tree.
Five or six days ago, the leaves on this tree hadn't even starting turning yet. But, we've had some chilly nights the last week and by today, they had turned and were falling off. See the note about leaves falling off.

Autumn For Me

|
|
Autumn for me, first and foremost, is going back every year to this maple tree that is at the edge of my little town and photographing it when the leaves turn. I've been photographing it since 1979. I always look forward to it and then when I've taken that last shot, I find it hard to leave for another year. For the Saturday Self-Challenge Group - Autumn.

This tree is at the edge of my little town and I've been coming here for 38 years and photographing each Autumn when the leaves turn. It's almost a religious experience for me - it's a very beautiful tree.
