Fuji Film Smart Shot Deluxe

When my Minolta XD11 went down and had to go to the shop sometime in the late 1990's, I bought this Fuji Film Smart Shot Deluxe point and shoot 35mm and it saw some action. I found the original owner's manual and paperwork for this camera and according to the warranty card, I purchased it on October 11th, 1997. Here's a picture of me that my brother Matthew took using my camera. It was several years ago. It's so old in fact, I'm wearing a "Houston Oilers" shirt. You remember when you used to buy a new television set and in the box they'd come in were these styrofoam protectors at each corner? That's what I'm using for the "shoulder pads." I was just goofing off and thought it would make a funny picture.

This was Savannah, who used to be my step-daughter, ready for her first day of kindergarten. Taken almost exactly 20 years ago. I took it using some of the Seattle Film Works film - the kind you would send off for and get two rolls for $2 to try out. You had to send it back to them, though, to get it developed. The film speed was 400 ASA for one roll and 200 ASA for the other. Sometimes, a photograph can mean so much when it captures a moment in time. But time changes things. Two of my step-daughters, taken at the St. Louis Zoo back in 1999. I took two shots of them holding this pose, but Kelsey, on the left, blinked in one and Savannah on the right looked away in the other.
