Painting The 1950 Chevrolet

Painting The 1950 Chevrolet
Dad painting his 1950 Chevy. He painted it these colors because he had them on hand. Later, he said he wanted to repaint it because he really wanted it blue and white. So, that's what color it will be repainted. Taken on October 12th, 1999, using a Polaroid 200 Bf 35mm camera and Kodak Gold 100 film.

I was thinking about having it all stripped off down to bare metal, but I found some earlier pictures that show some of the bodywork he did. I don't want to mess that part up. So, I'll just rough it up, primer it and leave this paint on there. I think it'd be easier in the long run. I've decided it's going to be all white, with medium to dark blue flames coming from the front. Kind of like the paint featured on this Ford Pickup. I plan on having the flames go a little further along the sides than on the truck.

The paint can be removed with soda blasting with minimal damage to any plastic filler. You can paint over the red, but any chips in the paint might be an issue with the red showing through. The other issue you might want to look at is the type of paint your Dad used ... some of the newer paints are not stable on some of the older finishes.
