Taken at WELP Radio, 1998. As we called it "Consultant-Free WELP" because we didn't have radio consultants in New York or California who told us what we had to play or say. The slogan was original, although I know of one case where someone in another market copied what we were doing and used it. (I also wanted a billboard campaign that used the slogan "More Smiles Per Mile" and featured pictures of our airstaff, but that wasn't in the budget.) "Consultant-Free WELP" didn't cost anything to say, and we did get some great mileage from it. We cut promo spots mimicking someone calling our competition requesting a song, and we used sound-alike voices saying things like "Sorry, but the consultant in New York won't let me play that. I'll ask him when he comes down next month."

I haven't always been old, fat, graying, balding, and ugly. Once I was young, skinny, with dark hair... but still, arguably, ugly. lol For those who kept prodding me until I did this, here are some pictures from "way back," to prove I did have hair once upon a time, and that it all wasn't white. (And my chest was bigger than my belly.) My, how time changes things!
