Yellow Bottle Brush 20240920 14 23 14 Pro

This bottlebrush shrub/tree and another smaller one with it appeared in a plant pot of their own accord. I planted them out to a suitable place. The trunks are only 6" / 15cm apart due to the roots having intertwined themselves in the pot. The yellowness of this one is faded when viewed on my laptop but shows brilliantly on an extension screen. This is the first year it has flowered. See PiPs. September 2024.

The original electro-mechanical exchange equipment will have been replaced by modern electronics connected to optical fibre rather than copper cable. A town in the Blue Mountains region to the West of Sydney. This part retains the character of Lawson as it was when we lived in the next (smaller) town in the late 70s and 80s. A large population growth which commutes to the Sydney area and a well-constructed 4 lane highway have changed the region's character. The structure upper left is a memorial to those who served in WWI. See PiP. July 2024.

The railmotor is on a training run just weeks before we commenced carrying the public. This run was to Hendon, our initial limit of travel to the South. It included stops in both directions at Clifton station. Hendon has no station now but does have a triangle where we can turn steam locos. The triangle provided access from both mainline directions to a now defunct branch line. May 2024 Inside through the two cars of this train. www.ipernity.com/doc/grahamh/52197976/in/album/1350334

This post is in answer to Peter P B's question about this photo, www.ipernity.com/doc/grahamh/52557052 . That is, what is happening in that other photo. Look at the PiPs here. Ash from the burnt coal accumulates in the smokebox. The mechanism highlighted here is a means to reduce a large build-up without having to open the smokebox door. Water from the boiler via the tap and pipe shown washes ash which is in the sump part of the ejector. Ash which is not in the sump can be moved into it using a pricker tool through the port halfway up the side of the smokebox in line with the sump. The pricker is moved around to get the ash to fall into the sump. (A pricker is a locomotive fire tool. It is usually a steel rod with one end bent to be a handle and the other end has 20-30 cm bent at 90 degrees. Its main purpose is to move fire around in the firebox.)
