Railway Air Pressure Regulator Tester 20240314 11 13 33 Pro
An assembly in the DownsSteam workshop which allows air regulators which are used in locos and carriages to be set to their required pressures. The type of regulator shown is used in the loco 106 and in the carriages. March 2024.
PiP 1 shows the oily gunk which has to cleaned from the insides of a regulator after years of service. We use paint thinners with brush and rags to wipe down and wash out the body and the removable parts, and compressed air to blow out the thinners and gunk mixture.
PiP 2 A closer general view.
PiP 3 The gauges showing 660 Kilopascals input pressure and 40.7 pounds per square inch regulated output pressure.
