RedbackSpider 0218 3199crop
A juvenile female redback spider. Australia's variety of the widow spider. Seen here crossing a concreted area near the backdoor of my home on a damp morning. February 2018. PiPs

Well photographed Graham.

Those ladies are not nice to play with.

Thanks John. No, they often eat their mates. Part of the rich tapestry of Australia's deadly smallish creatures.

They aren't too hard to avoid. They stay at their web and they don't move quickly. Wear gloves and don't reach where you can't see when moving things which have been undisturbed for weeks/months.
