GrahamH club has replied to tiabunna clubFreight in rail wagons often meant lots of manual handling which can be hard on those who have to do it. Pallet sized lots, maneuvered by forklift, by road often saves double handling and time.
So while I'm a definite supporter of rail transport, you may have noticed this, less strained backs and faster delivery can be gained by road transport for non-bulk goods.
