I don't mind the water cart, but couldn't they have put the diesel on the back. This arrangement looks terrible! :-(

And it generally sounds worse than it looks. They don't seem to push in Qld. It may be to do with the age, and hence strength, of the cars.

The water tanks are a reflection of the distances and removal of loco water infrastructure. It takes a long time to fill a tender with a firehose so if it only has to be done overnight there is a great advantage for passengers and operators.
