Forest Pinhole #2

Fantastic POV!

Difficult tool it still is. If one does not know it is taken with a pinhole camera, then it just looks blurry. If I find time to participate to worldwide Pinholeday occasion next Sunday, I'm planning to find a subject with some clear graphical forms. Another idea is to utilize the depth of field to make something small on foreground made to look really huge. Although, I recall and guess the difficulty with pinhole camera usually is the lack of possibility to aim and compose.

I compose quite normal with the viewfinder of the camera. If setting to "P" I have made good exposure results, although in the instructions the setting "without lens" is recommended. Also I have photographed few simple graphic designs, but there I miss the 'poetic' effect. How it looks with the converging lines in architectural photography, I have not yet explored.
My idea is to take into the image very close and very distant objects to draw attention to the typical differences to our best known lens effects.
There are many analogous pinholes on IP, which have their own artificial fascinating flair.

My sensor is not very clean; so I have to remove some small clear spots digitally; that is no problem.

Yesterday I experimented with an impressionistic zone siev and had for my sense too much blurry and around the edges too dark results.

Oh, all that information is very helpful indeed! And yes, a 'poetic effect' describes these pinhole pictures very well.

My suggestion for the sensor issue. Why not to accept all the "flaws" as they are? Just like one may intentionally replicate scratchy film or old print. So, if there is some dust on sensor, then that could only make the image more authentic.

Yes, I will think about that in my next experiments! I think you are right. Todays perfectionism can lead to sterility.
One must concern, however, that the dust bunnies come perfectly sharp, which is not the case with lens made photos.
