Blue faced Honeyeater on Honey Gem Grevillea. Seen on our morning walk with the dogs. The Blue-faced Honeyeater is a large black, white and golden olive-green honeyeater with striking blue skin around the yellow to white eye. The crown, face and neck are black, with a narrow white band across the back of the neck. The upperparts and wings are a golden olive green, and the underparts are white, with a grey-black throat and upper breast. The blue facial skin is two-toned, with the lower half a brilliant cobalt blue. Juvenile birds are similar to the adults but the facial skin is yellow-green and the bib is a lighter grey. This honeyeater is noisy and gregarious, and is usually seen in pairs or small flocks. It is known as the Banana-bird in tropical areas, for its habit of feeding on banana fruit and flowers. birdsinbackyards.net/species/Entomyzon-cyanotis Saturday Self-Challenge 1/Spring... also Jacaranda in comment

Bridge over Yabba Creek

14 Apr 2018 12 16 272
Imbil Railway Bridge in Queensland. Another view in note. The 1915 bridge on the Mary Valley railway line is a landmark structure crossing Little Yabba Creek, at the charming town of Imbil. It may be viewed from the road bridge on the north-eastern side of town. The railway was built to support and enhance local agricultural production, particularly dairying. This style of steel bridge is a half through Pratt Truss, which was developed in 1908 and much stronger than earlier designs. This is one of five bridges of this kind remaining in Queensland.

His well known series called the "Cottage Library" was comprised of the "cheapest books in Britain". His firm was among the first to publish inexpensive books. He left his publishing business to his two stepsons. The house was then known as Milner and Sowerby. Illiustration and poem in Note Saturday challenge... Books Explored

a fairy tale

30 Apr 2018 15 21 233
Saturday challenge... Invent a fairy tale and illustrate it... Once upon a time there were three bears, a very small bear called "Pink", a slightly larger bear called "Pastel" and a much larger bear called "Camo". They all lived together, with two dogs called "Flop dog" and "Oz". They wanted to go to the annual Teddy Bears picnic, but unfortunately their doggy pals were not invited. So, they decided to have a portrait together, so that Flop and Oz didn't feel left out altogether. Flop and Oz were really happy :-) www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxFIGWm9M6w Explored

In sunlight, filling the frame for the Saturday challenge :-) Euphorbia pulcherrima is a shrub or small tree, typically reaching a height of 0.6–4 metres (2–13 ft). The plant bears dark green dentate leaves that measure 7–16 centimetres (2.8–6.3 in) in length. The colored bracts—which are most often flaming red but can be orange, pale green, cream, pink, white, or marbled—are often mistaken for flower petals because of their groupings and colors, but are actually leaves.
