School of Arts 1912

When it opened in November 1912, The School of Arts building was considered one of the finest buildings on the Sunshine Coast. Originally two stories, it had a library and billiards hall on the lower level. It is now the home of the Eumundi Independent Theatre and also hosts a variety of events. Art Gallery Bank Est.1909

Within the historical township of Eumundi, with its creative ambience and sense of community stands the historic Bank of New South Wales Building, the ideal setting for the inception of The Art Bank Gallery. It sits proudly in the centre of town on Memorial Drive, directly across from the famous Eumundi Markets. facebook.com/pages/The-Art-Bank-Gallery/119336244842691 From the early 1850s, almost all the area in the vicinity of the Eumundi district was part of three cattle runs - Canando, Yandina and North Kenilworth. Jenni, Eumundi Markets

I was wandering around the Eumundi Markets looking for interesting scenes for the 365 colours photo project when I spotted Jenni’s Market stall. I asked Jenni if she would mind posing for a photo and she agreed. I explained the 100 Strangers project and we discussed the fact that it had photos of people from all over the world. She was happy with that, but didn’t want to have too much information on the Internet. Jenni has been coming to the Eumundi Markets for the last 15 years with her range of stylish clothing which is manufactured locally on the Gold Coast in Queensland. She has a team of people who do the sewing for her. She was born on the Gold Coast and has lived overseas in both Spain and England. Many thanks Jenni, for participating, it was great to meet you. I took two photographs, the second with the flash. I liked the soft light in the first one, which is cropped as the main photo. The original and other photo are in the comments. This portrait is #11 in my 100 strangers project. Eumundi, Queensland, Australia

Mt Eerwah near Eumundi, Queensland

Near the country towns of Eumundi, Cooroy and Pomona, in South East Queensland. Other mountains nearby are: relief of 300m or more. Mount Cooroora at Pomona Mount Cooran Mount Tuchekoi Mount Cooroy Point Glorious Black Mountain This view is from the lookout on Eumundi Range Road, between Cooroy and Eumundi, Queensland. There are acreage properties along Eumundi Range Road and across on Black Mountain Road. Not to be confused with the other Black Mountain up near Cooktown, in Far North Queensland, almost 2000kms away, which has some strange tales associated with it. Kookaburra Print

Section of print bought at the Eumundi Markets in Queensland. By local Artist Misha. The reflection in the photo is another print (different artist) on the opposite wall. Misha was born in Yugoslavia in 1948 and began to draw literally as soon as he could hold a pencil. His creative efforts continued after moving to Australia in 1959 and led to formal training at Swinburne Technical College in Melbourne. The learning process has continued to this day and has been in the more pleasant surrounds of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland for the last 20 years... Virtually all of Misha's work is sold through the famous Eumundi markets on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. His art is displayed at these markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. misha.com.au 24/31 March Pale Blue, 12 months/365 Days in Colour.

Joe's Waterhole Est. 1891

In the historic market town of Eumundi, Queensland. There is a lot of history and family tradition at Joe’s Waterhole Hotel. This historic hotel as it stands today was once the Commercial, which was rebuilt in 1926 after a fire swept through Eumundi in 1924. In 1962 Joe Whiting took over ownership when he swapped his sugar-cane farm in Maroochydore for the hotel. It became known colloquially as Joe’s Waterhole and was officially renamed in 1987. joeswaterhole.com/history From the early 1850s, almost all the area in the vicinity of the Eumundi district was part of three cattle runs - Canando, Yandina and North Kenilworth.
