Kondalilla National Park. A beautiful rainforest walk down to Picnic Creek, the Kondalilla Falls lookout and the Rock Pools. About 100 km north of Brisbane, near Montville, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, and a 45 minute drive from home. Named after the spectacular Kondalilla Falls, where Skene Creek drops 80 m into a rainforest valley, this park is a cool mountain retreat and an important refuge for many native animals and plants. 'William Skene founded this area on his property while searching for lost cattle. He named it Bon Accord before gifting it to the Queensland Government who, during the fifties, renamed it Kondalilla which is an Aboriginal word for running water. At the Noosa Yacht Club, Noosa River, Queensland. The young sailors are called Tackers. The Sabot is a sailing dinghy that is sailed and raced singlehandedly usually by young sailors. The Junior and YouthSail Sailing program at Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club is continually growing from strength to strength. On the front lawn (2002), before we had neighbours. 'Kangaroos usually have one young annually. The young kangaroo, or joey, is born alive at a very immature stage, when it is only about 2 cm long and weighs less than a gram. Immediately after birth it crawls up the mother's body and enters the pouch. The baby attaches its mouth to one of four teats, which then enlarges to hold the young animal in place. We were staying on Hamilton Island and on Sunday did the walk to Passage Peak which overlooks the Whitsunday Passage, named by Captain James Cook in 1770. Quite a challenging walk but very rewarding at Passage Peak. Spectacular views. Many islands in the Whitsunday group, popular for yachts and cruise boats. One of our favourite places for a holiday. Hamilton Island is one and a half hours flying time North of Brisbane in Queensland.

Mt Barney National Park We were driving back to Queensland in 2002 and were diverted through Kyogle onto the Mt Lindesay Highway. Took this photo and much later scanned it and mis-identified it until I had some help from the Park Rangers. Elevation 1,177 m (3,862 ft) Mount Lindesay lies on the Queensland-New South Wales border, approximately 140 km south west of Brisbane, Australia. It is one of a number of peaks in the McPherson Range, and is remarkable for its tiered summit, the eroded remnant of lava flows from the nearby Focal Peak shield volcano. Mount Lindesay is situated within the Mount Barney National Park in Queensland and the Border Ranges National Park in New South Wales. Apart from the northern slopes, the rest of the peak is covered in dense rainforest, and the summit is frequently in cloud and mist.
