Our cat Dora the Explorer, a natural bobtail.
Her mother was a bobtail, but some of the other kittens had normal tails.

Took Angus, our Westie, for a summer haircut. Boy, did Rachel do a good job, sheared like a sheep. Very rural location, so took photos, of horses, cattle and a very fierce looking black bull.
Not to mention the boy himself, gorgeous Angus :-)
He didn't seem to be too keen on his Christmas red ribbon.

#37 A black cat out and about (NOT your pet)
This cat turned up at our place and was starving hungry. I called him "Sweetie" We have seen him before, visiting our cat Dora. He has yellow eyes and a long tail, and Dora has green eyes and a bobtail, so they look very alike. He hung around, and kept coming back for food. We asked our neighbour, and he said that it was probably Phat Albert who had been missing about a month, and had been living in a drain.
Next time he came by we kept him in, and Ian visited the likely owners, who confirmed that he was their cat. They were overjoyed to be reunited with him :-)
Apparently "phat" means cool or excellent :-)

Superstition

Sunday challenge... over the top
As companion animals for humans for thousands of years, cats play all sorts of mythological roles. In ancient Egypt, cats were revered; today, Americans collectively keep more than 81 million cats as pets.
So why keep a black cat out of your path? Most likely, this superstition arises from old beliefs in witches and their animal familiars, which were often said to take the form of domestic animals like cats.

Dora, the Explorer. She is not allowed to be out and about at the moment, so not much exploring.
We have a great deck, though, which she loves.

Our cat, Dora the Explorer, out on the deck.
I sorted out our archive artwork, an eclectic collection, mostly of sentimental value. I will probably rotate displays from time to time, but meanwhile have found an accessible cupboard for them to live. First had to clear the cupboard which was full of boxes, containing boxes, which have now added to the clutter in the garage. Thank goodness we have the carport at the back of the garage.
Gavin, a landscaper came to assess the challenge of transforming the goat track of a back yard on our 1200 sqm (sloping) block of land. His recommendation was to keep it simple. So the project, now agreed with him, is a pathway around the perimeter underneath the deck, complete the fencing, smooth the rocky ground and partially turf it.

I went down to check on the Plover's chicks, and they have gone. Mama Lapwing didn't divebomb me so they must be OK.
