The bridge, which spans Cape Hawke Harbour, or the Wallamba River was officially opened on July 18, 1959.
It is 631 metres long, 13.5 metres wide, and the bridge arch sits 6 metres above the water.
Before the bridge was built a ferry operated between Forster and Tuncurry for close to 70 years.

We went to the Southern Highlands for a wedding 27 January, and there was a very enjoyable gathering here the night before.
In 1865 the first post office was established at Burrawang, which was named after the native palm once plentiful in the area. This was followed by the first pub licensed in 1866, believed to have been located in the two residences immediately west of the current pub...

Sunday challenge - the Animal World
... beautiful, haunting, flute-like song which may be given throughout the day and sometimes well into moonlit nights. Once heard, the song is difficult to forget, and it has been described as ‘one of the finest in the world’.

This bird was over in the trees, then popped on to our deck, not staying long after it spotted our cat...

Wallis Lake is the sparkling jewel in the crown that consists of the Great Lakes region in the Barrington Coast.
With a surface area of 99 square kilometres, this aqua blue waterway is famous for white sands, fishing, boating and delicious Sydney rock oysters that are the finest in the country.
Forster and Tuncurry are the twin towns that sit where Wallis Lake meets the ocean, where the Coolongolook River flows into the Tasman Sea.
Surrounded by Wallingat National Park on the west and Booti Booti National Park on the east, the pristine waters are fed by the Wallamba River, Coolongolook River and Pipers Creek. The lake is approximately 25 kilometres long and nine kilometres wide.
