Boxing kangaroo and Kombi
We lived in Melbourne late 80s but never visited these colourful beach huts.
Later I bought an art print of some of the huts, and resolved to see them on our next visit to Melbourne.
So, we visited them in November 2018, en route to Tasmania.
The Brighton bathing boxes have been a part of the suburb’s life for more than 100 years.
Brighton Historical Society member Dianne Reed believes the first was built back in the 1800s, when women used them to get dressed in.
Brighton Bathing Box Association member Bill Meares said the group formed in 1954, but the first recorded bathing box dispute was in 1863.
