I liked the texture of the moss on this old, tumbledown wall in the winter afternoon sunlight.

A tiny, heartbreaking grave marker in the quiet cemetary at Prinknash Abbey - where monks and individuals associated with the Benedictine monastary are buried. This made me think of the 6 word story "For Sale: Baby shoes. Never used." which I thought was attributed to Ernest Hemingway, but Wikipedia says otherwise.

Many years ago, in the pre-digital age, I was sightseeing in Singapore, and came across a newly-built block of condominium apartments. With careful framing, I captured the location for posterity, and a cheap laugh.

A few years ago, we spent some time in Sri Lanka. A highlight was climbing the steep route to the top of Sigiriya. Halfway up we came across this sign, and carried on in silence for a while!

My niece and her family are members of the Sealed Knot - a reenactment society who recreate the everyday life and combat of the English civil war. A couple of years ago they reenacted the Siege of Gloucester nearby, which was a great event to photograph. A little later I discovered a Photoshop plugin that adds a comic book style and effects to elements in pictures, so I had a bit of fun with some of my images from the day.

Not much of a photograph, but definitely a challenging subject. A shy Water Rail briefly left the cover of the reeds but stayed in deep shadow to the camera's ISO setting was pretty much maxxed out.

I was cold enough for the lake edges to freeze over at WWT Slimbridge. This Coot had a chilly walk to find food.
