A Hopperian note seems to have crept into the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario. Compare (only if you feel like it, of course) Hopper's Morning Sun:
www.edwardhopper.net/images/paintings/morning-sun.jpg
Yes, Hopper forgot to paint her left arm, although it's in his sketch for the painting. He got her left hand in, though.
I don't think the McMichael Collection is well known to tourists to Toronto. The collection is spectacular, though, featuring, according to its website, "over 6,500 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Métis, Inuit and contemporary artists who have contributed to the development of Canadian art."
The grounds are spectacular, too. A 45-minute drive from Toronto City Hall.

The 'Morning Sun' painting surprised me for its flatness when I was expecting an abundance of light and shadow. The subject's left arm would, however, have been only incidental had it been added. No point wasting paint on it really.
John FitzGerald club has replied to The Limbo Connection clubThe flatness may be due to the poor reproduction, which is from the Columbus (Ohio) Museum of Art, its home. I recall being much more impressed when I saw this in Columbus many years ago.
Yes, the missing arm has not stopped this photo from becoming widely admired. Apparently it spends most of its time on the road, appearing in exhibitions elsewhere,

John FitzGerald club has replied to William Sutherland clubI love this shot too John............the light, shadows and warm colours have come together very nicely..!!
Thanks for the link too................I've never seen this painting before, but it's reassuring to know that even famous artists mess thing ups sometimes..........there's hope for me yet!
