John FitzGerald club has replied to Sarah P.Actually, I'd never seen or heard of candy corn before you mentioned it, but the internet reveals the resemblance. Perhaps...traffic cones were modelled on candy corn!
Well, let's look that up. So...the traffic cone was "invented" by Charles D. Scanlon, but not a word about the inspiration for the shape. Probably trying to avoid patent infringement.
