Blood on the rooftops
Mid & down town at sunset, from GE building, 2014
- The modern minarets -
(vectors of the abolition of the right to abortion)
"The lyrics of 'Blood on the rooftops' by Genesis (1976) refer to a 'typical' middle-aged or elderly couple that have very little else to do with their lives than to watch TV, and complain about the content. The various references to TV programmes show how the escapism of fantasy and fiction impacts so deeply that they can no longer distinguish between that and the grim events of the real world.
Rather than retreating into ignorance, the lyrics show more that if lives are made to become insignificant (through staleness, doing the same thing, taking partners and situations for granted), the only meaningful thing left is to make an issue of 'the world' as they see it which, of course, is tainted by their own blinkered perceptions."

This insignificance, which ends up permeating, by contagion, our perception of the hyper-mediatised war in Ukraine, includes our own existence. Powerless, except for a few moments, to act against this drama, what are we worth? What are our lives worth, if not by consumption of and emotional investment in the face of images distilled every day of an issue that is beyond us - when it should involve us in remedying it in a few days all together... if we had, if we could take our future into our own hands in a responsible and voluntary way - just as we have taken it from our dear ipernity...

Blood on the rooftops, by Genesis, one of their most beautiful "anodyne" ballads

For when we got bored, we'd have a world war, happy but poor

Remarquable travail conséquent.
Je vous souhaite un bon et heureux week-end.
Have a serene Weekend!
Enjoy your weekend
I love your profound thoughts and questions,
demonstrating the urgent need for self-knowledge and self-conquest.
Have a peaceful weekend and stay well!
I wish you a good and peaceful weekend dear Eric.
Erich
