Former property of my grandparents Thomas Walter and Violet Emma Dove Biscoe

This "new' barn was built by my grandfather during my early teen years (mid - late 60's).

While the foundation was layed by Mr. ____ Hewitt who was a well respected white carpenter in the area the barn's construction was performed by my grandfather who over a period of several years (perhaps 1965 - 1967) collaborated with a black carpenter by the name of William Barber and my older brother Nelson Barnes.

In fact, it was my brother, Nelson who actually is responsable for most of the barn's construction.

There once was an old barn and corn house that had been on the property since before I was born, in 1953, that stood in front of the new barn and nearest to the forefront of the picture. Both were demolished by the new owners (Cappers) shortly after my grandmother moved from the farm in the early 80's. Leaving what the family referred to as the new barn.
