A round walk from Lochinver via Glencanisp Lodge A fine view of Suilven over Loch Druim Suardalain, rising above the hummocky and chaotic looking knock and lochan landscape. Suilven is comprised of Torridonian Sandstone which rests with great unconformity on the underlying basement rocks of Lewisian Gneiss.

Ben Stack: view north-east towards Arkle

21 Jun 2018 113
A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (15) Descending from Ben Stack, at the bealach of Coire nam Mang, a final view of the dramatic south-west flank of Arkle. The main bulk of Arkle is comprised of south-easterly dipping, pale grey Cambrian quartzites of the Ardvreck Group, which lie with great unconformity over the Lewisian Gneiss visible in the lower part of the photo.

A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (14) Descending from Ben Stack, at the bealach of Coire nam Mang, looking north over the chaotic appearance of the ice-smoothed knock and lochan landscape.

A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (8) View east from the summit ridge of Ben Stack to Loch Stack in the knock and lochan landscape far below. The west-facing flank of Arkle is just visible to the left, below the cloud base.

Ben Stack: Jan on southern summit

A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (7) Somewhat surprisingly the trig point is not located on the highest point of Ben Stack, but on lower ground to the south of the main (NW) summit. Here the cloud has blown in again and mostly obscuring the view to the south. Sitting down to avoid being blown over.

A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (6) Somewhat surprisingly the trig point is not located on the highest point of Ben Stack, but on lower ground to the south of the main summit. However, there are extensive views to the west and south, or at least there are on clear days. Here the cloud has blown in again!

Ben Stack: view to summit from trig point

A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (5) The summit ridge of Ben Stack is unfortunately marred by a radio mast and associated hut. It was very windy on the ridge and difficult to keep one's feet. This photo was taken from the trig point and shelter cairn. Somewhat surprisingly the trig point is not located on the highest point of Ben Stack, but on lower ground to the south of the main summit. However, there are extensive views to the south and west.

Ben Stack: view north from Coire nam Mang bealach

21 Jun 2018 107
A windy, blusterous day on Ben Stack (4) On the initial toil up the south-east ridge of Leathad na Stioma I was concentrating more on route-finding and watching where I was putting my feet rather than taking photos. But reaching the relative level ground of the bealach by Coire nam Mang allowed some respite. This is the view to the north over the Coire towards the Lewisian Gneiss knock and lochan landscape and the hint of the sea beyond. Arkle with its head in the clouds is the mountain on the right.
