Ringed Starling: I've never found a dead Starling let alone caught one just to find out what the number is on the ID ring. This one along with a few others are emptying the feeders in the garden quicker than I can fill them. "GREEDY BG's"!!

Time to reflect, Beautiful Spring afternoon we decided to take a walk around the Nuns Lake Thetford. part of the BTO property. First time we have gone more than two miles from home since lockdown started in December last year.

Well here is a surprise, I have had this camera a little over one year and the 100-400mm lens about 3 months. I have never been really happy with the long lens and before lockdown several disappointing trips to the WWT at Welney and then last night trying for the Snow moon failing miserably I then new something was very wrong. So finding several articles on the internet which gave me a little hint I turned to the user manual which has stayed in the box from the day I bought the camera. I always shoot in Raw and so turning to the page concerned with using the cameras digital x2 teleconverter there is a paragraph about how Raw exposures deal with Tele-converting which explains why the teleconverter works through live view but not when the image is uploaded, It goes further to explain that when in JPG mode the image saves and uploads as recorded. In other words shooting in Raw using the digital 2x teleconverter isn't a good idea. This shot was in JPG (LF Large /fine) from about 7 meters away no cropping no noise reduction just a touch with a brush to make the breast brighter, that's all. I suppose the moral of this tale is to read the user instruction's even if you think you don't need to. Now about that washing machine my other half bought just recently !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something Different: Something to look forward to at last.

Sorry to upload another Blue Tit, This was an experiment to see what would happen with a 10mm extention tube added to the 400 mm lens. It only seemed to work at a full 400mm, The AF would not focus at a shorter focal length, on manual it was ok. There is no crop here, only colour adjustment and sharpening applied.

Robins don't use the suspended feeders easily this one is waiting for me to put down a few meal worms which I put under a shrub tree, he manages to get a few before the others move in.
