Making friends with dogs in Antioquía.
In Antioquía, the fruit harvests, such as apples and quinces, were not doing well, since there were difficulties in accessing the market. The first step to make Antioquía more successful was to raise awareness among the population through workshops on fine arts, with experts who instructed the families of the town. Then, an international competition was held to choose the artistic design that the district would carry. Peruvian painter Enrique Bustamante was the winner. Thus, in 2004, the artist painted Antioquia. He began with the schools, the church, and the community hall, and continued with the houses and various public spaces.
Also, as part of the economic development initiative, the inhabitants of Antioquia were trained in tourist services, to turn the town into an attractive destination for travelers. And they did an incredible job!

To boost the economy in this town, in 2003, the Center for Research, Education, and Development (CIED) created the project “Colors for Antioquia”, in which an international competition of artistic designs was held to be displayed in the district and transformed into an art gallery. This was done to attract more tourists to the area.
Thus, a group of visual artists from different countries came to the town to participate in this competition. The Peruvian painter Enrique Bustamante was the winner and in 2004 he painted Antioquia. He started with the schools, the church, and the community hall, and continued with the houses and various public spaces. Now the inhabitants take care to keep it as beautiful as possible.
