Bandshell, Hollenbeck Park. See nearby picture for history of park. There was nothing indicating that there was any special event going on, it just seemed to be teenagers gathering on the stage. Some were dancing to music that someone had brought.

Lake and shelter, Hollenbeck Park. Per one website, the structure is a boathouse and at one time canoes could be rented for use. The park was created in 1892 and photos from the 1920's show the same boathouse and lake that is here. The apparent serenity of the park is somewhat misleading. On the left side of the picture you can see a wall -- that is part of the I-5 freeway. Hollenbeck Park is in the Boyle Heights area of LA, a poorer and largely Hispanic neighborhood southeast of downtown.

The Linda Vista Community Hospital, formerly the Santa Fe Railroad hospital. A hospital was opened at this site in 1904 as a hospital for treating employees of the Santa Fe Railroad. The original building was replaced by this building in 1924. The name was changed to Linda Vista Community Hospital in 1937, the hospital ceased operations in 1991. It has been regularly used as a filiming location since, but is scheduled to become senior housing in 2013.
