I'm not going to lie, I'm starting to dislike Ipernity. I find the strict and expensive subscription requirement in order to upload all your photos is frustrating. Worse, you have to renewing the subscription every year in order to maintain the unlimited upload priviledge or else people can't see 80% of your photos. I'm not a fan of the interface as well. I feel like people dont always see the comments as I comment on a lot when I'm on here but it seems like people dont always see them. Do you guys use other photosharing sites for our power line seafaring or are you guys still sticking with ipernity? I dont mind paying for people's services but not when people aren't using it as much, especially when I feel like there might be better sites with fewer restrictions. I'm not sure if flicker is better these days or if there's better sites there that you guys are also using for your uploads. I noticed I haven't seen as many of you fellow line fans as much on here as I used to. I have to admit I was busy for the last couple of years because other personal obligations but miss safariing and plan on uploading a lot of new stuff in the days to come.
David Dahle has replied to James E HackettOver here, the folks now in charge are looking at a cut-rate membership as a compromise for those who want to be a member but think the full priced membership a bit spendy. But if you split that annual payment of $50 by 12 months, it works out to $4 and change a month... or one Starbucks drink. :)
I going to still use ipernituy as well but I'm also going to start posting the same uploads on Facebook as well.
David Dahle has replied to James E HackettDavid Dahle has replied to SW Ohio LinesAndrew Zehner still posts once in a while on Flickr, but he sticks to trains, and PA Powerliner now only posts once in a blue moon on the ICON gallery. Pat Scott, Nick Ogden, and Charles Robinson don't even put up any new stuff anymore. Then there's those who have simply fallen off the face of the earth (Andre, Jan Chris, David Hinton, Johnvosh).
Vertryn may have run afoul of ima as at least two accounts have vanished and his remaining one got demoted to guest mode (TOS violation - 1 account per person).
James E Hackett has replied to SW Ohio LinesI have some more photos of this pole, such as the bottom, that shows the pipe and new cables they seem to be replacing and hope to upload these soon when I can.
Your in luck. Streetview is pretty high-res in Detroit. It is in Dickinson Ave and East Edsel Ford Freeway. The lines go under the highway and come back up behind Harper Ave. I tried to follow the lines but I sadly found out I was doing it 2-3 years too late. I remember all this being live but didn't try to find out what it was when younger because I spent all my time studying in hs/college and partying on the weekends.
