Cambridge/St. Ives - Apr 2015

Friday 10 April 2015 (1002) - Go-Whippet (Whippet Coaches) WG102 (BF63 HFA) seen on Emmanuel Road, Cambridge arriving on service C from St. Ives which had travelled the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. A Wright Eclipse 2 bodied Volvo B7RLE new in September 2013. Services on the Busway are operated by Go-Whippet and also by Stagecoach East, buses of both companies carry a dedicated blue and green Busway livery.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1042) - Go-Whippet (Whippet Coaches) vehicles parked in St. Ives bus station. Left is WD403 (LN51 AZL), a Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL new to Sovereign London in December 2001. (In normal fleet livery). Right is WG101 (BG59 FYB), a Wright Eclipse 2 bodied Volvo B7RLE new in December 2009 as a Volvo demonstrator. (In special livery to operate services on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway).

Friday 10 April 2015 (1056) - Go-Whippet (Whippet Coaches) WS308 (AF52 VMD) seen about to turn from Market Road into Station Road, St. Ives when working the 1015 Cambridge-Huntingdon service 5. A Wright Eclipse bodied Scania L94UB new in September 2002.

Friday 10 April 2015 (0856) - Go-Whippet (Whippet Coaches) WD426 (X945 YCC), an Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL seen leaving Drummer Street bus station. A former Dublin Bus vehicle in whose livery it remains. I believe it was new to Dublin Bus as their AV76 (00D 40076) new in 2000.

Friday 10 April 2015 (0854) - One of the Stagecoach East Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD double deckers placed in service in March 2009 for use on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. It was seen in Drummer Street bus station in Cambridge ready to work the 0900 service B to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon (arrival 1014). Unfortunately I can't tell if it is AE06 GYF (15458) or AE06 GYP (15465) but I would imagine it was the former because I travelled on that bus a couple of hours later from St. Ives (at 1102) which would have been the 1021 departure from Hinchingbrooke.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1007) - Stagecoach East (Cambus) 21235 (AE12 CJX) is a Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012. It was seen approaching the rising bollard in Emmanuel Road, Cambridge when working the 0942 service A from Trumpington to St. Ives (Marley Road). This service operates on both the southern and northern sections of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1007) - Stagecoach East (Cambus) 21235 (AE12 CJX) is a Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012. It was seen approaching the rising bollard in Emmanuel Road, Cambridge when working the 0942 service A from Trumpington to St. Ives (Marley Road). This service operates on both the southern and northern sections of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1017) - On board Stagecoach East (Cambus) 21235 (AE12 CJX) at the Science Park bus stop on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway when working the 0942 service A from Trumpington to St. Ives (Marley Road). It is a Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1041) - Stagecoach East (Cambus) 21235 (AE12 CJX), a Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE new in July 2012, seen leaving St. Ives bus station when working the 0942 service A from Trumpington to St. Ives (Marley Road). This service operates on both the southern and northern sections of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway using normal roads between the two (through Cambridge city centre) and again after leaving the St. Ives Park and Ride site.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1056) - Station Road, St. Ives with three dedicated buses that operate on the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. The Go-Whippet single decker (at the back) was unable to make the turn from Market Road due to there being two late running Stagecoach East (Cambus) vehicles occupying the bus stop. The double decker is 15200 (YN64 ANU), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in November 2014, which was working the 1008 service B from Huntingdon (Railway Station) to Cambridge (Drummer Street) due here at 1045. Behind it is a Wright bodied Volvo B7RLE working the 1040 service A from St. Ives (Marley Road) to Trumpington due here at 1052. The Go-Whippet bus is WG104 (BF63 HFC), also a Wright boded Volvo B7RLE, working the 1035 service C from St. Ives (Hill Rise) to Cambridge (Railway Station). This bus was arriving from Hill Rise and had to travel round the block to enter the bus station (due 1050 to set down local passengers before leaving for Cambridge passing this spot again a few minutes later. Friday is market day in St. Ives which all helps to delay the buses.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1102) - Stagecoach East (Cambus Limited) 15458 (AE09 GYF), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in March 2009, seen in Station Road, St. Ives when working the 1041 service B from Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon to Cambridge via the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. I rode back to Cambridge on this bus.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1122) – The spur from the main track of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway towards the B1049 road (Cambridge Road/Kings Hedges Road junction) via Orchard Park, is a non guided private right of way. 1 5201 (YN64 ANV), working the 1115 service B from Cambridge (Drummer Street) to Huntingdon (Railway Station), passes a similar bus 15448 (AE09 GYF) working the 1041 service B from Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon to Cambridge (Drummer Street) service B (from where the photo was taken). The spur parallels Kings Hedges Road (behind the trees on the left) and the roads into the residential housing (seen on the right) cross it at a small number of places. Both buses are Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD.

Friday 10 April 2015 (1124) - Stagecoach East (Cambus Limited) 15200 (YN64 ANU) seen from the front upper deck seat of 15458 (AE09 GYF) on the Orchard Park spur of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway. The spur from the main track of the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway towards the B1049 road (Cambridge Road/Kings Hedges Road junction) via Orchard Park is a non guided private right of way. The spur parallels Kings Hedges Road (on the left) and the roads into the residential housing (seen on the right) cross it at a small number of places. Both buses are Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UDs, 15200 new in November 2014 and 15458 new in March 2009 and both were working service B into Cambridge. 15200 had worked from Peterborough (0921) and was running about 15 minutes late in part by busy market day traffic in St. Ives. 15458 was working the 1041 service B from Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon and, because 15200 had picked up all the waiting passengers down the line, had had a fairly clear run catching it up by Orchard Park. The land on which the houses were built was once the site of the Premier Travel Services operating centre ‘Premier Park’. Coincidentally one of the properties on the site today is a hotel owned by Premier Inn! No connection though.
