Friday 5 July 2019 – Stagecoach in Cambridge (Cambus) 27850 (AE13 DZW), an Alexander Dennis Enviro300D new in May 2013, seen crossing the railway bridge on Coldhams Lane, Cambridge during the diversion of service 2. Normally service 2, which links Addenbrookes Hospital or Sainsbury’s with the City Centre and Cambridge North railway station, would travel via Mill Road and the Mill Road bridge which was closed whilst railway maintenance was taking place.

Normally service 2, which links Cambridge North railway station to the City Centre and Addenbrookes Hospital or Sainsbury’s, would travel via Mill Road and the Mill Road bridge which was closed whilst railway maintenance was taking place.

In order to serve the Mill Road communities either side of the closed bridge shuttle services were provided. Service 2B ran from Sainsbury’s into Mill Road on the east side of the bridge and service 2A ran from the City Centre to Mill Road on the west side of the bridge.

During the period of closure of Mill Road Bridge whilst railway maintenance was taking place service 2, which links Cambridge North railway station to the City Centre and Addenbrookes Hospital or Sainsbury’s, would normally travel via Mill Road and the Mill Road bridge. In order to serve the Mill Road communities either side of the closed bridge shuttle services were provided. Service 2B ran from Sainsbury’s into Mill Road on the east side of the bridge and service 2A ran from the City Centre to Mill Road on the west side of the bridge.

In order to serve the Mill Road communities either side of the closed bridge shuttle services were provided. Service 2B ran from Sainsbury’s into Mill Road on the east side of the bridge and service 2A ran from the City Centre to Mill Road on the west side of the bridge. This view was on board Stagecoach in Cambridge (Cambus) 44005 (BP16 UWT) as it approached the blockage near Hope Street on Mill Road. 44005 initially ran on services in Ashford, Kent before moving to South Wales hence the bi-lingual sign on the cab door.

Stagecoach in Cambridge (Cambus) 44005 (BP16 UWT) is seen turning from Mill Road into Hope Street when working service 2B from Sainsbury’s at Coldhams Lane/Brookes Road. In order to turn round for the return journey the shuttle buses on this side of the bridge travelled via Hope Street, Argyle Street and Cockburn Street in order to reach Mill Road and return to Sainsbury’s. 44005 initially ran on services in Ashford, Kent before moving to South Wales.
