My last bus jaunt before the first Covid-19 lockdown

Tuesday 18 February 2020 (1226) – For many months (since June 2019) the section of Cambridgeshire Guided Busway between Histon/Impington and Orchard Park has been closed for rebuilding of an overbridge carrying the A14 trunk road over the Busway. Having taken the diversionary route from the city centre Stagecoach East 15215 (YN15 KHM), an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in August 2015, is seen turning from Cambridge Road, Impington to rejoin the Busway when heading for Huntingdon on service B. The bus stop platforms at this point are not opposite each other. The eastbound Busway bus stop/platform (visible beyond the traffic cones) is currently inaccessible and passengers wait at a kerbside bus stop in Cambridge Road (to the left of the photograph) normally used by city bound buses operating the non Busway 'Citi 8' service. The westbound Busway bus stop/platform, which is behind the camera, is unaffected by the diversion and closure. The Busway was constructed along the former railway track alignment and the building covered in scaffolding on the left was the Histon and Impington railway station. It is currently part of a redevelopment featuring a number of new buildings.

Tuesday 18 February 2020 – Stagecoach East (Cambus) placed two Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV bodied BYD electric buses in service on Monday 17 February 2020 on Cambridge ‘Citi 6’ service which operates to Oakington about 6 miles from the city centre. The service has a frequency of every 30 minutes with a round trip taking 56 minutes, thus the two buses which are numbered 14033 (LF69 UXN) and 14034 (LF69 UXO) cover the full schedule. 14033 (LF69 UXN) is seen turning from Mill Road to Water Lane in Oakington when heading to the city centre.

Having just left the Busway which crosses the road in the background Stagecoach East 15211 (YN15 KHH) is seen in Cambridge Road, Impington when heading towards Cambridge city centre along the diversionary route. It is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD new in August 2015. A rebranding exercise will shortly take place that will see this original Busway livery phased out.
