2018 Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre - 25 Nov 2018

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1028) - Royles Travel of Sheffield A5 PMX is seen on the A14 near Bury St. Edmunds just before arriving at the town’s annual Christmas Fayre. It is a short length Beulas Cygnus bodied MAN 14.280 that had been new to Parry’s Coaches of Cheslyn Hay in November 2007 registered YN57 ADV. Following behind also bound for the Fayre is Jewel’s Tours of Gravesend JT15 HOL, an Irizar i6 bodied Scania K440, new in April 2015.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1058) – Two well established Bury St. Edmunds based commercial enterprises are featured in this photograph. The bus is operated by Mulleys Motorways which started business in the late 1930s. It is passing the Greene King Brewery, a company which is somewhat older having originated in 1799. An old brewing copper stands outside the premises. YN04 UJT was working the Park and Ride shuttle as part of the annual Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre and is an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94UD that had been new as Nottingham City Transport 738 in May 2004.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1204) – A sculpture of Edmund the Martyr (St. Edmund), who was king of the East Angles from about 855 AD until his death at the hands of Danish invaders in 869 AD, looks out towards the The Norman Tower (Norman Gate) in Bury St. Edmunds. The tower dates from the early 12th century and was the belfry for St. James’s Church (now the Cathedral). Through the arch of the tower a Mulleys Motorways Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL can be seen arriving on the Christmas Fayre Park and Ride shuttle. It is a Plaxton Panther bodied Volvo new in 2014 possibly new as YX14 SDU.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1235) – Hornsby’s Coaches of Ashby, Scunthorpe 8955 RH seen alongside the Coach and Lorry Park at Rougham Hill, Bury St. Edmunds having brought visitors to the annual Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre. It is a Plaxton Panther bodied Volvo new in 2014 possibly new as YX14 SDU. In front is Roman Coaches of Colchester YN67 VDD, an Irizar i6 integral new in September 2017.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1245) – Mulleys Motorways operated the Bury St. Edmunds Park and Ride shuttle again this year. One of their Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL double deckers is seen heading from town to join the A14 near Moreton Hall bound for the car park at Saxham. In addition to ‘Park and Ride’ for a number of years there has also been a ‘Park and Walk’ facility using the St. Edmundsbury Council staff car park on Olding Road which is much closer to town than Saxham.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1240) – Landmark Coaches of Arlesey, Bedfordshire BN17 JFE seen at the Coach and Lorry Park at Rougham Hill, Bury St. Edmunds having brought visitors to the annual Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre. It is a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo new in March 2017.

It is a Van Hool Alizee bodied Volvo B10M that I believe was new to Kerry Tours of Killarney, Ireland registered 99-KY-2976.

It was seen in Raingate Street, Bury St. Edmunds having brought visitors to the annual Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1033) - Mulleys Motorways MUI 7949 seen on the A14 near Bury St. Edmunds when working the ‘Park and Ride’ shuttle for the annual Christmas Fayre. It is a former Dublin Bus Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL which I believe it was their AV202 (01 D 10202) new in December 2001/January 2002. When imported to Britain it received registration number LW51 ZMV although Mulleys re-registered it to MUI 7949 in May 2016.

Thursday 22 November 2018 (1050) – As in past years M J Perry of Woolpit provided the shuttle service for coach drivers that had brought excursion parties to the annual Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre. RX13 FPZ, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter mini-coach new in 2013, was seen at the Coach and Lorry Park at Rougham Hill on the outskirts of the town. The shuttle enabled coach drivers to travel to the town centre’s facilities and general amenities.

The reflected stripes in the door panel were on the van of the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) whose staff were carrying out checks on the visiting vehicles and driver records.

Thursday 22 November 2018 (1049) – One of the earliest excursion coaches to arrive on this first day of the Bury St. Edmunds Christmas Fayre was King’s Coaches of Colchester KC17 ABC. New in May 2017 it is a short length Irizar i6 with seating for 33 passengers.
