Unō/Universitybus (University of Hertfordshire)

Tuesday 30 July 1996 (approx. 0950) – Universitybus was established by the University of Hertfordshire in 1992 as a way of providing links for students travelling between the various separate Campus sites. The services were opened up to the general public and the operation grew to become what it is today rebranded Uño in 2005 with operating bases at Hatfield, Northampton and Cranfield. Four unusual vehicles in the fleet were the American built Bluebird Q RE buses new in October 1994. OV326 (M51 HUT) is seen in Welwyn Garden City bus station.

Monday 8 April 2002 – The Amercian built Bluebird Q RE buses of Universitybus (University of Hertfordshire) had been employed on the company’s public commercial bus services when first purchased in October 1994 and wore white paintwork with a grey skirt. They were later painted yellow for school related work. M49 HUT was seen in Herns Lane, Welwyn Garden City.

Friday 21 March 1997 – Universitybus P668 PNM, a Wright Crusader bodied Dennis Dart SLF new Universitybus in November 1996, seen leaving the Wall Hall Campus of the University of Hertfordshire just after 1600 bound for Welwyn Garden City. Friday 21 March 1997 – Two of the Wright Crusader bodied Dennis Dart SLFs new Universitybus in late 1996 zoom away from the Wall Hall Campus of the University of Hertfordshire just after 1600. P664 PNM, bound for Watford Junction Station, is leading with P668 PNM, bound for Welwyn Garden City, following. The spire of Aldenham village church is in the distance above the leading bus. 3 October 2005 (approx 1846) - Burtons Coaches operated P908 PWW, a Northern Counties Paladin bodied DAF SB220, for a time possibly just on loan. It came from Universitybus, Hatfield and remained in their livery. It was seen here at Thetford having worked the Newmarket-Thetford service 200.

21 September 2005 (approx 1035) - Burtons Coaches operated P907 PWW, a Northern Counties Paladin bodied DAF SB220, for a time possibly just on loan. It came from Universitybus, Hatfield and remained in their livery. It was seen here on Haycocks Road, Haverhill parked near to where the driver lived.

Wednesday 26 October 2005 (approx 1035) - Burtons Coaches operated P907 PWW, a Northern Counties Paladin bodied DAF SB220, for a time possibly just on loan. It came from Universitybus, Hatfield and remained in their livery. It was seen here having turned into Carnation Way from Warren Road at Red Lodge when operating the Newmarket-Thetford service 200. This location has been changed somewhat since the photograph was taken. A roundabout was built at this location after the garden walls of the houses either side were trimmed back to widen the roadway. Mulleys Motorways BMC Falcon YN54 VLE was coming towards the camera working service 358 from RAF Lakenheath to Bury St. Edmunds.

Friday 10 June 2011 (0908) - Stephensons of Essex Limited took over the failed business of Burtons Coaches at the end of May 2011. To assist with the need for extra vehicles for this additional work Stephensons loaned this Optare Spectra from Unō (University of Hertfordshire). 201 (YJ53 VBN) was new in November 2003 and was seen at Bury St Edmunds bus station about to work service 15 to Haverhill..

Saturday 11 June 2011 (1056) - Stephensons of Essex Limited took over the failed business of Burtons Coaches at the end of May 2011. To assist with the need for extra vehicles for this additional work Stephensons loaned this East Lancs Myllennium bodied DAF DB250 from Unō (University of Hertfordshire). 202 (YJ53 VBO), which carries branding for service Unō service 614, was new in November 2003. Seen here at Bury St Edmunds bus station about to work on service 17 to Red Lodge. The destination display was being reset and what is displayed is irrelevant to the current assignment.

To assist with the need for extra vehicles for this additional work Stephensons loaned this East Lancs bodied DAF from Unō (University of Hertfordshire). 202 (YJ53 VBO), which carries branding for service Unō service 614, was new in November 2003. Seen here at Bury St Edmunds bus station about to work on service 17 to Red Lodge.

Tuesday 14 June 2011 (1115) - Stephensons of Essex Limited took over the failed business of Burtons Coaches at the end of May 2011. To assist with the need for extra vehicles for this additional work Stephensons loaned this Optare Spectra from Unō (University of Hertfordshire). 201 (YJ53 VBN), new in November 2003, was seen arriving in Mildenhall from West Row when working service 400 to Newmarket.

Thursday 26 November 2015 (1228) – Unō (University of Hertfordshire) SN51 SYY seen in St. James’s Road, Northampton. An Alexander bodied Dennis Trident new to London United (#TA219) new in December 2001. Heading towards the town centre I believe it was working circular service 19 serving University of Northampton.
