The service takes its name from the ‘Angel of the North’ sculpture which the service passes on its journey.

The service takes its name from the ‘Angel of the North’ sculpture which the service passes on its journey. I travelled on this bus to Gateshead.

It is allocated to Washington garage for operation on service 50 which is branded ‘Whey Aye Five O’ combining the north eastern expression ‘whey aye’ with the tv series Hawaii Five O. A nice colourful branding - however I didn’t see many palm trees and surfers on the way to South Shields!
