The Fenland town of Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire was again host to the Fenland Busfest organised by the Eastern Bus Enthusiasts Group.
As well as static displays of buses and coaches parked in Broad Street and Market Street, there was a network of timetabled services on routes to neighbouring towns and villages which started from the Buttermarket.

The annual Fenland Busfest is centred on the Cambridgeshire market town of Whittlesey. This view shows Market Street which, along with Broad Street beyond, were closed to general traffic for the day. Some of the buses and coaches are seen backed in along the street as members of the public stroll around between them.

A number of rally entrants participated in running a network of free bus services throughout the day. Looking every much the part of a regular service operator in the Whittlesey area despite being about 160 miles from home is MP Travel of Davyhulme, Manchester 717 (W417 JAT) which was seen leaving the Buttermarket on a service 345 trip to Thorney. It is an Alexander ALX300 bodied Volvo B10BLE that was new to East Yorkshire Motor Services as their 317 in June 2000. It is planned to re-register the bus to become W17 MPT very soon.

Left is BKE 861T, an Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VR operated by Judds Coaches of Guyhirn. It had been new to Maidstone & District (5861) in June 1979 as a standard closed top bus.
Right is an Alexander RH bodied Leyland Olympian that is preserved in the livery of its original owner, China Motor Bus of Hong Kong. New in 1993 it carried fleet number LM10 and registration FW 3858. In 1998 it passed to New World First Bus (also in Hong Kong) and was later imported to Britain in 2001 taking on registration K481 EUX. It has operated with three different group companies, First PMT, First Glasgow; and First Eastern Counties.
