Edmund the Martyr (St. Edmund) was king of the East Angles from about 855 AD until his death at the hands of Danish invaders in 869 AD.

The town of Bury St. Edmunds is named for him and November 20, the date of his death, is marked as St. Edmund's Day.

Friday 10 August 2016 (1107) – Mulleys Motorways MX57 HDH seen at the Parkway/Risbygate Street Roundabout in Bury St. Edmunds. In the centre of the roundabout is a statue of St. Edmund at his martyrdom made from steel wire with steel arrows penetrating his heart and body. MX57 HDH is an Optare Solo 920SL (9.2 metres long slimline model) which was new in September 2007 to Nightingale Coaches (Johnson) of Greencroft, Annfield Plain, County Durham.

Tuesday 7 November 2017 (1217) – H C Chambers and Son Limited (Go-Ahead) 1505 (YN55 PZG), an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94UD new to Metrobus (also Go-Ahead owned) in February 2006, seen at the Southgate roundabout (Southgate Green) in Bury St. Edmunds. Just visible on the left is the statue of a baying wolf which, according to legend, guarded the head of King Edmund after he was killed in 869 AD. The story goes that after being killed Edmund was decapitated and whilst his body was found his head was missing. Supporters heard the wolf call them and found the animal guarding the king’s head. Alongside the statute is the king’s crown.

Friday 10 August 2016 (1116) – For some time the section of St. Andrew’s Street North close to the main shops in Bury St. Edmunds has been closed resulting in buses being diverted along Parkway and Risbygate Street. Galloway Coach Travel 228 (AY55 DGV), a Wright Cadet bodied VDL that was new in September 2005, seen on Parkway having worked the 1000 service 385 from Stowmarket. It has lost its yellow and blue colour scheme worn since new. In the centre of the roundabout is a statue of St. Edmund at his martyrdom made from steel wire with steel arrows penetrating his heart and body.

It is a Scania N94UD OmniCity new to Nottingham City Transport (211) in September 2004. Coach Services Limited of Thetford BU16 OZO approaches the roundabout from Wilks Road when heading towards the town centre. Services have been diverted via this route during the re-modelling of the Spread Eagle junction - a project which started in early September 2017 that has a planned completion date of February 2018. It is an MCV Evolution bodied Volvo B8RLE new in July 2016.

Sunday 25 November 2018 (1204) – A sculpture of Edmund the Martyr (St. Edmund), who was king of the East Angles from about 855 AD until his death at the hands of Danish invaders in 869 AD, looks out towards the The Norman Tower (Norman Gate) in Bury St. Edmunds. The tower dates from the early 12th century and was the belfry for St. James’s Church (now the Cathedral). Through the arch of the tower a Mulleys Motorways Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL can be seen arriving on the Christmas Fayre Park and Ride shuttle. Normal regular bus services aren't usually seen in this part of the town.
