Friday 7 July 2017 (0956) – Go-South Coast (Southern Vectis) 1619 (HJ16 HSL), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 new in April 2016. It was seen turning out of High Street to climb Spring Hill in Ventnor when working the 0845 service 3 from Ryde to Newport.

Friday 7 July 2017 (1016) – Go-South Coast (Southern Vectis) 1586 (HW63 FHH), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 new in December 2013, seen in Pier Street, Ventnor, Isle of Wight when working on service 3 (Possibly the 0935 from Newport to Ryde due at 1012). The building directly behind the bus was the former Southern Vectis Omnibus Company garage which closed some years ago. Despite being used by a later owner it now appears to be vacant.

Hurst’s store is a true emporium with a building style that harks back to an earlier era – curved glass and a tiled entrance.

Saturday 8 July 2017 (0656) – Go-South Coast (Southern Vectis) 1579 (HW63 FHA), an Alexander Dennis (ADL) Enviro400 new in December 2013, seen climbing Ocean View Road in Ventnor, Isle of Wight when working the 0630 service 3 from Sandown to Newport.

Saturday 8 July 2017 (0923) – Harwood’s Garage in Wootton Bridge on the Isle of Wight features a large photograph on the front of the shop window that includes Southern Vectis Omnibus Company Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol LD6G Lodekka 554 (ODL 14), a bus new in February 1958.

The service runs every 30 minutes requiring one bus for the half hour circuit. An Optare Visionaire bodied Scania N230UB new to Wilts and Dorset in June 2009.

Wednesday 5 July 2017 (1437) – Bus stop signs on Shanklin Esplanade, Isle of Wight. The ‘Shanklin Breezer’ is an open top service running every 30 minutes requiring one bus for the half hour circuit. Service 22 only reaches this point twice on only four days a week.

The service runs every 30 minutes requiring one bus for the half hour circuit. An Optare Visionaire bodied Scania N230UB new to Wilts and Dorset in June 2009. (Typically, after patiently waiting for quite a while to get this shot the couple in the photograph decided to stop and have a debate just at the wrong moment).

Friday 7 July 2017 (1020) – The sound of an engine from an earlier era coming up a nearby hill prompted me to direct the camera towards what I heard and I clicked this photograph. CDL 899, an Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol K5G dating from 1939, is in the heritage fleet of Go-South Coast (Southern Vectis) having been new to the Southern Vectis Omnibus Company. It was climbing the hill towards Trinity Road in Ventnor.

Tuesday 4 July 2017 (1325) – Go-South Coast (Southern Vectis) 1992 (GSK 962) seen climbing to the Needles terminus of the ‘Needles Breezer’ open top service. The circular (clockwise only) service runs every 30 minutes starting in Yarmouth travelling via Freshwater Bay to the Needles headland and back to Yarmouth via Totland. The full circuit takes 57 minutes and the service is worked with two buses. 1992 is a Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL new in September 2002 registered HW52 EPL. The second bus on the service today was 1991 (WDL 691) originally HW52 EPK. Beyond the Solent is Lymington and the New Forest on the mainland.
