HBM: Eastern Counties TH917 (C917 BEX) in Mildenhall – 19 Mar 1993 (188-16)

Friday 19 March 1993 - Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Limited TH917 (C917 BEX), a Ford Transit with Robin Hood van conversion bodywork new in March 1986, seen at King Street, Mildenhall working the 1257 Town Circular service M7.

ECOC once ran mini-bus services a six days a week around Mildenhall which they abandoned and were substituted by Neal’s Travel with Suffolk County Council subsidy also running six days a week. However, at a future date ECOC decided to run a competing and identical Mildenhall network on just Fridays only, the busier Mildenhall market day. A shame really as the Neal’s Friday revenue had helped sustain the other days.

The ECOC service began with the 0930 service M6 to Beck Row which arrived back at 0956. It then worked the 0957 town circular service M7 arriving back at 1011 followed by the 1012 service M8 to West Row arriving back at 1028. This pattern ran each hour, with the exception of the 1112 service M8, until completing the 1530 service M6. The bus then worked a 1600 service 155 back to Bury St. Edmunds.
