Display in Mildenhall bus station - 31 Aug 2024 (P1190361)

Saturday 31 August 2024 (0900) – The departure display at Mildenhall bus station is a curious thing and really can be most ‘confoosing’ as local people might say.

Instead of showing the town of destination it shows the terminal set down point so in the case of the top three lines the ‘bus station’ refers to Mildenhall (358 to West Row and back) on the first line and Bury St. Edmunds on lines two and three (service 355 via Icklinghm etc and 357 via Red Lodge etc).

In the case of lines four, five and six ‘The Guineas Bus Station’ refers to Newmarket. The 0930 departure is for some reason shown twice and then line six shows a departure at 0938. These are actually all the same bus! At 0930 the service travels to Mildenhall Hub and returns to the Bus Station before departing for Newmarket at 0938.

Today was the last day of operation by Mulleys Motorways of Suffolk County Council sponsored services 357 and 358. Commencing Monday 2 September 2024 operation passed to Coach Services of Thetford.
