Cambus buses at RAF Mildenhall – 25 May 1985 (19-9)

Cambus buses at RAF Mildenhall – 25 May 1985 (19-9)
Saturday 25 May 1985 – The annual Air Fete held at RAF Mildenhall attracted vast numbers of visitors many of which used the Park and Ride shuttles. Cambus was the main contractor to provide the buses.

Cambus was created in September 1984 when the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company, a National Bus Company subsidiary, was split up. ECOC itself retained the operations in Norfolk and Suffolk whilst Cambus covered Cambridgeshire bordering with the Newmarket and Haverhill areas on the edge of West Suffolk.

The fleet inherited by Cambus operated in the former ECOC red and white livery until repaints were made into the new pale blue livery with a white band. Both colours of buses are seen in this view. All the vehicles in this shot are Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristols. The double deckers are VRs and there is just one single decker among them.
