Preserved Salford 179 (WRJ 179) at the RVPT Rally in Morecambe - 26 May 2019 (P1020426)
Sunday 26 May 2019 – On display at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust 'Morecambe Vintage Bus Day' which celebrated 100 years of Ribble.

WRJ 179, a Metro-Cammell bodied Leyland PD2/40, was new to Salford City Transport as their 179 in April 1963.

Salford buses were notable for not carrying advertising – the city crest adorned the panels between the upper and lower deck windows. Other features were the fleet number on the rear panel sat within a large double circle with Salford City Transport in full. Likewise the name in full along each side. Another less common feature was the use of extended winding handles for the crew to change the destination screens from a standing position rather than having to clamber up on the front of the bonnet.
