DSCF3935 More Bus 1711 (HF66 DSX) at Sandbanks - 30 Jul 2018

DSCF3935 More Bus 1711 (HF66 DSX) at Sandbanks - 30 Jul 2018
Monday 30 July 2018 (1536) – Go South Coast (More Bus) 1711 (HF66 DSX) seen at Sandbanks waiting to board the ferry for Shell Bay when working the Bournemouth to Swanage ‘Purbeck Breezer’ service 50. It is a Volvo B5TL with MCV eVoSeti convertible bodywork new in January 2017. The company operates three different formats of this body on the ‘Purbreck Breezer’ services, fully covered, partially covered and convertible.

The chain link ferry crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour (approx. 0.25 miles) and has a nominal capacity for 48 cars. This is a popular holiday route and at busy times car drivers can face a long queue however the bus always gets priority. When the cars are queuing for about half a mile along the one-way two-lane Banks Road the bus sails by (pun intended!) them all in the through traffic lane arriving at the front of the queue. A space for the bus is always found.

There can't be many places in the UK where a regular service bus uses a ferry...
