DSCF1663 Ipswich-Felixstowe Historic Vehicle Run 6 May 2018 - Entry F1
Sunday 6 May 2018 – Ipswich-Felixstowe Historic Vehicle Run

The smartly restored VG 5541 was new to the Norwich Omnibus Company in June 1933 as their number 43.

Control of NOC passed to the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company on 1 December 1933 and this bus passed to ECOC taking fleet number LG4 and later HLG4, the number it carries here.

A Bristol G that originally had a standard Weymann covered top body. It was converted to open top in 1950 to operate the seafront service in Felixstowe. Quite significant considering it was making a return to the resort today.

Restored by Roger Burdett of Coventry who had apparently driven the bus from Coventry to Ipswich the previous day with the journey taking him seven hours. Credit due to Roger on a number of counts not least the fact that he allowed the general public free access to clamber all over the upper deck.

How do these open top coaches manage water collected by the open top in heavy rain? It would need to be directed away from the lower deck interior somehow.
