DSCF8100 Network Warrington 53 (DK55 OMM) - 17 Jun 2017
Saturday 17 June 2017 (0848) – Warrington Borough Transport (Network Warrington) 53 (DK55 OMM), a Wright Merit bodied VDL new in January 2006. This body style was identical to the Wright Cadet and known by that name when bought direct through Wrightbus. When bought through Volvo it was known as the Merit. It was seen leaving Warrington bus station on service 22 to Vulcan Village.

The Vulcan Foundry Limited, famous as a builder of railway locomotives and railway infrastructure (bridges and track etc) that were exported worldwide, was one of the largest employers around the Newton-le-Willows area. The company disappeared following a number of different owners and little is now left to mark it was ever there except for a modern day industrial estate bearing the name and a small number of company built homes for its employees. A small cluster of those terraced properties stand to the south east of Newton-le-Willows known as Vulcan Village where the bus is heading. The terminus of service 22 is Manchester Row adjacent to Sheffield Row, Liverpool Row and Derby Row.
