Barry Plumpton XPV 797S - 14 Jul 1989

Friday 23 March 1990 – Barry Plumpton Minibuses (Mildenhall and Feltwell) XPV 797S seen in Church Lane, Barton Mills on an afternoon school journey. A fairly recent repaint as yet devoid of lettering.

Plumpton’s operated a number of school contracts using small vehicles. This Mercedes-Benz 307D was a van conversion. It was driven by George Edwards who had retired from Kirby-Warrick/Schering-Plough, where I also worked. Originally he had driven the delivery trucks and then drove our company cars collecting visitors from the airports and railway stations etc.

I made the sign for him that is displayed in the rear window pending the vehicle getting sign written etc. My younger daughter was just getting out of the front door.
