Hópferðir Hjartar of Hafnarfjörður, Iceland HY 840 at Aldeyjarfoss- 24 July 2002 (492-27)

Wednesday 24 July 2002 - Many lesser roads in Iceland are just gravel or dirt surfaced and in the highlands involve crossing stony river fords. As a result rugged high chassis 4x4 coaches are very common like this Jonckheere bodied Mercedes-Benz operated by Hópferðir Hjartar of Hafnarfjörður near Reykjavík. It carried lettering for the tour operator HópferðaMiðstöðin. HY 840 was seen at Aldeyjarfoss at the northern end of the F26 road through the central highlands. The waterfall at this spot is a popular call with the tourist coaches which make the journey over the route.
