Burtons Coaches YK04 KWG at Trumpington Park and Ride Site - 30 March 2005 (542-2A)

Wednesday 30 March 2005 (approx 1930) - Every now and again I drove one of the two Optare Solos on the Addenbrookes Hospital Shuttle which linked the hospital with the Trumpington Park and Ride site.

The two buses (YK04 KWF and YK04 KWG) were new in June 2004 and carried a special colour scheme. Whilst they were operated by Burtons Coaches I believe they were actually owned by the hospital but I don't know for certain. There was said to be a condition that they could not stray from this Monday to Friday operation. On Saturdays they were usually tucked away in a corner of the Haverhill yard but, from time to time, they were put to use away from the Cambridge district per chance of being seen. On one occasion I recall driving one of the pair into Mildenhall bus station on service 200 creating a little excitement to some people waiting there who thought there was a new direct facility from Mildenhall to this major regional hospital!
